Curriculum

The following are course offerings at the Columbia School of Broadcasting:

  • Basic Radio Production. This is a favorite course for those wishing to get the technical side of Broadcasting. It is the premiere course in Broadcasting.
  • Broadcasting Sales and Management. You'll learn the daily functions of the radio station account representatives and sales management. Fundamentals on how to get new customers and closing techniques.
  • Advanced Broadcasting. You'll become a master in the intricacies of producing, editing, writing, streaming and airing a live broadcast on both radio and television. This is a multimedia course.
  • Television Announcing. The Television Announcing workshop provides students with on-camera experience. It may be taken after completing Phase 2 of Radio Announcing.
  • Introduction to Internet Broadcasting- This is the hottest course in Radio. Learn the digital side of audio broadcasting, Digital editing, production, voice-over, sound files, web development, and streaming on the Internet.
  • Play-by-Play Announcing for Sports. This course is for the avid sports fan.
  • Introduction to Digital Broadcast Journalism. You'll learn the skills needed to perform Broadcast Journalism in the digital age. This is a 4-hour per week class for 10 weeks, consisting of 5 phases.
  • Radio Station Programming. You'll learn the daily functions of the radio station and the responsibilities of station management.
