Master Broadcasting in Radio Announcing

The RADIO ANNOUNCING course develops students' voice talent for announcing positions in the communications industry. Emphasis is placed on indoctrination of broadcast industry aspects, voice development, developing unique vocal styles, familiarization with station operation and various formats. Students will create a final audition tape to be used in job seeking activities.

Six Comprehensive Instructional Phases 600 Clock Hours

RADIO ANNOUNCING COURSE OVERVIEW PHASES
1. Commercial Delivery: Intro to broadcasting and equipment. Breathing techniques, articulation; voice projection; style, interpretation & delivery.

2. Newscasting Delivery: News delivery; news equipment; news writing; network news and wire services overview.

3. Disc Jockey Delivery: Learning to be a disc jockey; organizing and timing a program; ad-libbing and program material; station layout, organization, equipment and playlists; DJ delivery; developing a personal style and personality.

4. Sportscasting Delivery: Sports training; anchoring, play-by-play, gathering stats.

5. Specialty Announcing: Skills of weather, traffic, business and farm reporting; interviewing and street reporting; ratings; job search including how to write a professional resume and cover letter, how to conduct a fruitful job search; FCC application for Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.

6. Audition Delivery: Broadcast regulations, satellite communication and cablecasting; station automation; TV announcing, production, and editing; preparing the audition tape
